JOSEPH PALAZZOLO has been the music director of the Grosse Pointe Community Chorus since 2009.

Joseph began his lifelong commitment to music with piano studies in first grade.  He continued through college, winning awards in competition and superior ratings from the Michigan Federation of Music Clubs (MFMC).  At Oakland University, where he earned a BA in Piano Performance, Palazzolo studied under Brazilian pianist Flavio Varani and took classes in organ, voice, and conducting.

In addition to his work with the Grosse Pointe Community Chorus, Joseph has been Music Director for the Grosse Pointe Unitarian Church since 2002. He teaches piano there as well as in his home studio in Ferndale.  His students consistently earn high ratings and awards. Previously, he was Music Director of the Troy Community Chorus from 1992 to 1998.

Joseph has extensive experience in liturgical music as well as musical theatre, both onstage and in the pit.  He was pianist for the 1993 productions of the shows Forbidden Broadway and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change at the Gem Theatre in downtown Detroit. Joseph has appeared as soloist with local symphony orchestras and he continues to concertize throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. He is also a composer and arranger and a member of the MFMC and the American Guild of Music.
