Q: Do I need musical training or experience to join GPCC?
Some casual experience with singing and reading music is recommended, but we don’t have auditions.
Q: What if I need help learning the music?
We offer online rehearsal tracks for every voice part in each piece. These are available on our website.
Q: What kinds of music do you sing?
Take a look at our recent programs. As you can see, we love variety! GPCC has a vast library of music in many genres, and we often add new selections.
Q: Will I need to memorize the music?
No, we use our music folders during performances.
Need a music binder? We offer those for purchase-- ask during rehearsal!
Q: Are all ages of adults welcome to join?
Yes! Our members range in age from their 20s to their 90s.
Q: I am unable to stand for a great length of time. May I sit on a stool during performances?
Yes, we have several chorus members who sit on stools during performances.
Q: What do chorus members wear during performances?
In the winter, the women wear black tops with 3/4 or full sleeves, and black skirts or palazzo pants. The men generally wear tuxedos or black suits with red ties. In the spring, women have worn black pants and bright pastel tops with 3/4 or full sleeves. Or white tops with colorful scarves. The men wear tuxedos or black suits or black pants and white shirts with bright pastel ties, or black pants and black open-necked shirts.
Q: I spend several weeks away during the year and will have to miss some rehearsals. Can I still join?
Absolutely. You will have the sheet music and access to the rehearsal tracks to keep yourself going while you are away.
Q: What does it cost to sing with GPCC?
The registration fee is $60 per season, or $20 per season for singers under 30. There is no charge for the music, as long as you erase any notes and return all scores after each season's performance. Those wishing to purchase their music may do so for $30.
